Linear Interpolation and Estimation using Interval Analysis
This chapter considers interpolation and curve tting using generalized polynomials under bounded measurement uncertainties from the point of view of the solution set (not the parameter set). It characterizes and presents the bounding functions for the solution set using interval arithmetic. Numerical algorithms with result veri cation and corresponding programs for the computation of the boundi...
متن کاملLinear Radiosity with Error Estimation
We present a simple and inexpensive method for computing the estimates of error in a hierarchical linear radiosity method. Similar to the approach used in [1] for constant radiosity method, we compute lower and upper linear bounds of the actual radiosity function over the surface elements. We carry out this by computing linear upper and lower bounds of the kernel of the radiosity equation. Also...
متن کاملOn the Näıve Error Formula for Bivariate Linear Interpolation
In this article we investigate a “näıve” error formula for linear bivariate interpolation. We show that such a formula exists if and only if the interpolation sites form the vertices of a right triangle with sides parallel to the axes. Hence the mere existence of a näıve error formula imposes a rather stringent limitation on the type of interpolation.
متن کاملContinuous Mesh Model and Well-Posed Continuous Interpolation Error Estimation
In the context of mesh adaptation, Riemannian metric spaces have been used to prescribe orientation, density and stretching of anisotropic meshes. Such structures are used to compute lengths in adaptive mesh generators. In this report, a Riemannian metric space is shown to be more than a way to compute a distance. It is proven to be a reliable continuous mesh model. In particular, we demonstrat...
متن کاملEstimation of linear transformation by analyzing the periodicity of interpolation
Linear transformation, such as rotation, scaling, or any combinations of geometric attacks, is among the most common forms of image manipulation. This letter proposes a forensic technique that estimates the linear transformation of an investigated image. We exploited the periodic properties of interpolation by the second-derivative of the transformed image in both the row and column directions....
